    Aldara is a medicine that can and is usually used for the treatment of patients who are suffering from genital warts (this includes perianal warts). Aldara can also be prescribed to treat actinic keratosis (this disorder is characterized by dermal warty overgrowths) and to treat another disorder called basal cell carcinoma.     Aldara Warnings

    You should not use Aldara on broken skin, and on burns and wounds. It is recommended that you wait until these medical conditions have completely healed before you apply this medicine on those skin areas. Imiquimod is a medicine that has been designed only for external use.

    It is highly recommended that you should avoid getting Aldara in the mouth, eyes and nostrils, because this medicine might lead to severe irritations and allergic reactions. Avoid applying this medicine directly to the anus and vagina. Ask your personal physician for advice in these situations. You must not continue using this product after your treatment has ended. A prolonged treatment with this medicine might cause severe and dangerous skin damage.
    You should apply Aldara only to the affected skin area for which you have been prescribed the medicine. Do not use it in any other skin areas. While following a treatment with this product to ease perianal or genital warts, you must avoid sexual contact (this includes oral or anal sex).

    When this medicine is applied to the perianal and genital warts it may sometimes may weaken vaginal diaphragms and condoms, thus possibly leading to an unexpected pregnancy. Discuss with your personal healthcare provider other methods of contraception while using this product.  When you apply this medicine to a certain skin area, you must avoid getting the area that you are treating with this topical medicine wet. Do not go swimming until you have finished your treatment with this drug.

    Using Aldara is known to sometimes increase the skin’s natural sensitivity to direct sunlight. It is highly recommended that you should avoid exposure to UV rays and to sunlight while using this product. If you cannot avoid such an exposure, you must wear protective clothing in order to avoid experiencing unpleasant sunburn.

    You must not use Aldara on windburned or sunburned skin. It is best that you first wait until the skin area has completely healed before you use this product. This medicine is a category C FDA pregnancy medicine. Therefore, it has not been clearly determined whether a treatment with this medicine can cause harm on a growing fetus or not. If you are pregnant, or if you are planning to be so soon, you should ask your personal physician if you may start using this product.

    Aldara Usage Guidelines

    Ask your doctor how and for how long you have to use Aldara. You should avoid disobeying from any of the instructions (advices) that your personal doctor has given you. If you are using this product to treat perianal or genital warts, you should leave the medicine for 6-10 hours after applying it.     Aldara Overdose

    Aldara Missed Dose
